PERSONAL CHALLENGE Week
Monday 1 to Friday 5 July 2019
One week each year is set aside for learning outside the regular curriculum.
During Personal Challenge Week students do not go to their regular lessons but work on specific activities which are designed to build student’s knowledge and skills in a wide variety of areas all of which will help either in developing confidence, preparing them for the world of work or in understanding different aspects of society.
Years 7, 8 and 9: Personal Development Activities
Students have a range of activities that take place both in and outside of College – some of them are residential. During the week, students are challenged to think and work outside of the normal styles of learning.
All of our Year 10 students spend the week gaining invaluable insight into the world of work by undertaking a work experience placement. The students spend time during the year learning how to organise their placement and reflecting upon how their experience may help in deciding their future pathway.
Year 12: Beyond Beyton
Students undertake an exciting week of activities to begin their preparation for life ‘Beyond Beyton’. We organise a programme which include; preparation for the university admissions process (University and College Admissions Service – UCAS); curriculum vitae preparation; life skills (including cooking, sewing and basic car maintenance); personal health and wellbeing; taking a ‘gap’ and a broad range of career workshops that offer an insight into the opportunities on offer and the alternative routes available into a varied selection of industries, trades and professions.
