Curriculum and Prospectus
At Thurston Community College, we are proud of our dynamic learning culture. All students develop key learning habits and skills which are essential to becoming effective life-long learners. This, our language of learning, is a means of identifying common threads throughout all learning experiences and is reinforced during curriculum time. In addition to an outstanding curriculum, high quality enrichment and superb care, support and guidance, all students have opportunities to take ownership of and lead change within the College community.
All our students follow a common curriculum based on National Curriculum guidelines and current legislation www.gov.uk/government/publications/national-curriculum-in-england-secondary-curriculum.
Students who choose to attend our comprehensive Sixth Form have access to more than 30 different courses. Please refer to the Sixth Form page for full details.

"For their first year at the school students study a broad range of compulsory subjects and, thereafter, have a very good choice of subjects, most of which lead to GCSE qualifications at age 16. The range of on-site courses is supplemented by a small number of well-chosen courses which students pursue at other venues. The breadth of study contributes well to students' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development."
